Kyle firefighters were working to extinguish a grass fire that was snarling traffic Tuesday afternoon in Hays County.
Crews responded just after 1:30 p.m. to the fire near Interstate 35 and Center Street in Kyle, according to Kyle fire officials. Police had closed exit 210 and Center Street as firefighters continued to work the fire. Smoke was slowing traffic on both sides of the highway after 2 p.m., San Marcos officials said.
By 2:40 p.m., officials estimated the fire was 20 acres and 25% contained. Drivers should find alternate routes, if possible, officials said.
