New data from the American Consumer Satisfaction Index reveals Americans' favorite grocery stores, and one beloved Texas brand is near the top.
Around 31,000 people were surveyed about 19 major grocery brands, and each was rated with a score out of 100. The stores were rated based on categories like quality and freshness of meat and produce, cleanliness, store layout and speed of the checkout process.
The survey covered a wide array of national grocers, but H-E-B still took one of the top spots in the rankings despite only operating stores in Texas and Mexico.
Trader Joe's was the overall favorite, with southern upscale grocery chain Publix coming in a close second. H-E-B was ranked No. 3, with a rating of 83 out of 100.
The survey found customers in the Northeast were less satisfied with their grocery options than respondents in other regions.
In addition to the grocery rankings, the index's convenience store rankings showed Buc-ee's coming in at No. 5 out of 24 major brands, as well.
