Austin police and other emergency officials responded overnight to a mass shooting in downtown Austin near West Sixth and Nueces streets, where authorities say up to 20 people were shot.
Officials told the Austin American-Statesman that multiple people were killed and at least 17 victims were transported to local hospitals after gunfire at Buford's. As of about 3:30 a.m., authorities were still working to determine the severity of injuries.
Police said the suspected shooter was shot by an Austin officer. The scene is no longer considered an immediate threat to the public.
