Memorials, blood donations and an FBI briefing mark the day after the mass shooting at Buford’s bar on West Sixth Street in Austin.

A day after the mass shooting at Buford’s bar on West Sixth Street, Austin residents gathered to mourn, donate blood and seek answers as the investigation continued.

Flowers and handwritten notes appeared at a memorial outside the downtown bar, where survivors and witnesses reflected on the violence that erupted Sunday night. Piper Leleux, who said she was working nearby when gunfire broke out, returned to place a bouquet and remember the victims.

Across town, people lined up at mobile donation stations to replenish blood supplies sent to local hospitals to treat survivors. At Austin Police Department headquarters, FBI officials provided updates on the federal investigation.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s apartment in Del Valle showed visible damage and boarded windows, a stark reminder of the widening impact of the shooting.
