On Friday, Buford's bar will reopen to patrons, days after the mass shooting that took place at the establishment.

Staff at Buford's bar on West Sixth Street announced the establishment will reopen to patrons Friday, just days after a mass shooting that left four people — including the shooter — dead.

"After many conversations with our staff, we've decided to reopen Friday, March 6th at 6 p.m.," an Instagram post on the bar's page read. "40 of our 41 team members shared they feel ready to return, and we want to support them not only emotionally, but also in their ability to provide for themselves and their families."

The statement described Buford's as "home for many in our community," adding that returning to a sense of routine and togetherness — while difficult — can be an important part of healing.

Staff at Buford's said they've been coordinating closely with law enforcement and city leadership to ensure it reopens "as safely as possible."

There will reportedly be increased police presence near Sixth Street and Rio Grande Street, and Rio Grande will be closed to through traffic from Sixth Street to the alley from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday, according to the post.

The bar is also installing protective glass in the beer garden for added safety.

Buford’s will donate 100% of all sales from Friday, Saturday and Sunday to victims and families most impacted by the shooting.
