Multimedia journalist Madison Myers recently joined Austin TV station KXAN after two years in Waco at KXXV.

The latest addition to KXAN's team in Austin didn't have to travel far for her new gig.

"Tonight was my first time on air, so excited to continue telling stories in Central Texas," former KXXV reporter Madison Myers wrote in an Instagram post announcing the career move in mid-February.

Myers arrived in the Capital City, calling the city "a breath of fresh air," after wrapping up a two-year stint in Waco. She started at KXXV as a "22-year-old journalist fresh out of college—ambitious, a little nervous, and eager to get my career started."

Myers reportedly reached out to KXAN on LinkedIn as her contract with KXXV came to an end.

The multimedia journalist wrote she had grown "more than I ever imagined" over her two years in Waco and thanked the people of Marlin and Falls County for "welcoming me into your homes and trusting me to tell the stories that matter to you."

Myers reiterated her commitment to telling Central Texans' stories, and tipped her hat to Waco, saying, "Sometimes people see Waco as kind of just in the middle part of Central Texas, between Dallas and Austin, but that area really is growing so much."

Myers said she starts her workdays by joining her team for morning editorial meetings, where she pitches stories she finds through local community groups, governing bodies, or social media. She then conducts interviews, shoots video, writes scripts and packages the work together for broadcast and digital platforms. Depending on the story, Myers will go live, or her work will appear on the station's website and social media channels.

The multimedia journalist has been in Austin for about a month and says she enjoys the city's diversity and proximity to parks and bodies of water.

"I am loving the station. I am loving Austin. The people here are great. The community is great," Myers said. "And again—there's so many good stories to tell here, and so it's kind of the perfect location, I feel like, for journalism."
