Family members and advocates gathered at the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in Georgetown as officials announced a murder charge in connection with the fentanyl-related death of Jensen Anders. Anders’ mother, Anita Anders, stood alongside other parents and grandparents who have lost loved ones to fentanyl, many offering support to one another during the news conference.
Authorities said Garrett Wise of Austin has been charged with murder in the case. Under Texas law, a person can face a murder charge if distributing fentanyl leads to a fatal overdose.
