A man who threatened to carry out a mass shooting at a Luling business was arrested on Friday after a multiagency search, authorities said. The Luling Police Department responded at about 9:12 a.m. after receiving reports that a man threatened his wife and claimed he intended to carry out a mass shooting at a local business. When officers arrived at the business, they made sure employees and patrons were safe while they worked to secure the area. They searched for the suspect and his vehicle but did not initially locate him.
Investigators used data from the Flock Safety license plate reader camera system to determine the suspect had left Luling and was traveling south on U.S. 183, authorities said. That information was shared with the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office, whose deputies located the vehicle, pursued the suspect and took him into custody without incident. "I want to thank every agency that stepped in to help today," said Luling Police Chief Marcus Kinnard-Bing in a social media post. "Their quick coordination and teamwork brought this situation to a safe conclusion."
