The University of Texas Tower has a history of emitting a glowing light to commemorate academic and athletic achievements by students at the university. The 307-foot-tall Tower, completed in 1937, began using its windows for light displays in the 1960s. The Tower's lighting configurations include white for everyday use, white with an orange top for football victories, orange for academic achievements and special occasions, orange with a number 1 for National Championship wins, and darkened for solemn occasions or energy-saving events. After Texas Longhorns won the Women's College World Series, the UT Tower displayed its national championship lighting: an orange Tower with a white No. 1.
