Austin American-Statesman Receives Four National Features Awards

The Society for Features Journalism honored the Austin American-Statesman with four awards in its 2026 Excellence-in-Features Awards, recognizing outstanding storytelling across various platforms.

The Austin American-Statesman has won four honors in the 2026 Society for Features Journalism Excellence-in-Features Awards. Editorial Page Editor Bridget Grumet's commentary portfolio, which included pieces on homeless outreach to dogs and public policy, secured second place. Dining critic Matthew Odam's food writing portfolio earned him third place, and his collaboration with Sara Diggins and Alice Bazerghi on the guide to Austin's Best Restaurants of 2025 also won third place. Dining and trending reporter Ana Gutierrez took third place for her feature on Mi Madre's Restaurant.
