A shooting in Midland, Texas, left one person dead and nine others injured, according to Mayor Lori Blong. The suspect was in a standoff with police for about two hours after the incident. The gunfire began around 8 a.m. and ended near a veterinary hospital. Andrea Mendias, who works nearby, reported hearing at least 40 shots fired. Midland Memorial Hospital said four victims were in the operating room and five were in stable condition. Midland is a city of approximately 140,000 residents located in West Texas' oil region and was near the site of a previous shooting rampage six years ago, where a gunman killed seven people and wounded 24 others.
