Austin police are searching for a suspect after a person was found injured in a southeast Austin parking lot Monday night and later died of their injuries. Officers responded around 10:47 p.m. to multiple reports of a possible shooting or stabbing in the 2200 block of East Riverside Drive. The first officer arrived within about three minutes and found an injured person in the parking lot. The officer performed CPR and applied a tourniquet before Austin-Travis County EMS personnel arrived.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead at 11:36 p.m.
Authorities have not released the victim's identity or cause of death. Police have also not announced any suspects and said at a press conference Tuesday morning that no suspect description was available. The type of weapon used has not been made public, and officials have not shared how many people may have been involved in the incident.
Police said the case appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The case is being investigated as Austin's 27th homicide of 2026.
