The Lakeway City Council on Monday appointed a total of 17 people to its Board of Ethics, Board of Adjustment and the Heritage Committee.

Since the approval of a proposition in the May 3 city election, the mayor and each council member appoints one person to a board or commission, and the mayor’s appointee becomes chair. Each appointee serves for a one-year term ending June 30, 2026.

The ethics panel, established in 1998, oversees and updates the city’s Code of Ethics as needed. The Board of Adjustment reviews the interpretation and application of the zoning code. The heritage panel collects and preserves historical documents in the city, and promotes and educates the community on Lakeway history.

A proposition on the May 3 ballot sought to dismantle the Board of Ethics, but the proposition did not pass. Appointed to the Board of Ethics were:

  • Sanjeev Kumar, chair, appointed by Mayor Thomas Kilgore
  • Marsha Kish, reappointed by Mayor Pro Tem Louis Mastrangelo
  • Ron Cooper, reappointed by Council Member Jennifer Szimanski
  • Kim Mulloy, appointed by Council Member Christopher Forton
  • Gerry Ward, reappointed by Council Member Kent O’Brien
  • Danielle Taylor, reappointed by Council Member Matt Sherman
  • Shawn Morris, appointed by Council Member Kelly Brynteson

Appointed to the Board of Adjustment were:

  • Steve Smith, chair, appointed by Kilgore
  • Phil Lanier, reappointed by Mastrangelo
  • Charles Koenig, reappointed by Szimanski
  • Kim Moyer, appointed by O’Brien
  • Rip Miller, appointed by Sherman
  • Sean Rosholm, reappointed by Brynteson
  • Ken Gerardi, appointed by Forton

Kilgore and Mastrangelo also appointed two alternate members who can step in when other members are absent. Kilgore appointed JP Forage, who used to serves as a member, as an alternate. Mike Stubblefield was reappointed as an alternated by Mastrangelo.

Kilgore nominated Jim Parrish to fill a vacant seat in the Heritage Committee, and his term runs concurrently with Kilgore’s and expires in 2027.
