Texas state Rep. James Talarico has spoken up at various protests before, including in summer 2025.

Elected officials and community advocates are set to rally in East Austin on Saturday, protesting what organizers describe as abusive tactics by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in recent weeks.

The “Stop ICE Rally” is scheduled from 3-4 p.m. Saturday at Pan American Neighborhood Park, located at 2100 E. Third St., according to an online event listing.

The rally is being promoted by state Rep. James Talarico and is expected to include appearances by U.S. Reps. Joaquin Castro and Greg Casar, as well as former state Rep. Gina Hinojosa.

In the event description, organizers said the rally will be peaceful and attendees should expect a heavy security presence.

People who are interested in attending can RSVP online for more details related to parking and logistics.
