The first day of early voting in Texas brought U.S. Senate candidates to Austin, where campaign events unfolded across the city as voters began casting ballots.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, seeking reelection in the Republican primary, appeared at a rally at Serrano’s alongside former Gov. Rick Perry. Cornyn faces Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt in a competitive GOP primary.

Across town, Democratic candidate James Talarico addressed supporters at El Palacio Event Center. The state representative, who has drawn national attention in recent weeks, is running in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.

From handshakes and speeches to behind-the-scenes moments, the events reflected the early push to energize voters in one of Texas’ most closely watched races. With early voting underway, candidates are intensifying their efforts in Austin and across the state ahead of primary election day.
