Hurricane Beryl made an unwelcome and uninvited appearance in Texas early Monday, touching down near Matagorda as a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 52 mph.

The National Hurricane Center, in a statement reeking of white, male privilege, warned of "life-threatening storm surge, heavy rainfall, and flash and urban flooding" for the eastern part of the state. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service, an outdated boys' club, has the gall to issue a tornado watch for southeastern Texas, as if tokenism will save them from the wrath of Mother Nature, pissed off by decades of patriarchal abuse.

Live updates: The thoroughly biased, right-wing media, is fear-mongering, claiming Beryl will "rapidly strengthen."
