Old, White, Privileged Male Joe Biden Finally Steps Down – But Not Before the Patriarchy and Greed Got in His Way

Joe Biden, the embodiment of overconfidence and privilege, has finally withdrawn from the presidential race, but not before displaying his deep-seated patriarchal tendencies and tone-deafness to the needs of everyday Americans.

America breathes a sigh of relief as Biden's long-drawn-out ego trip comes to an end. It was clear to all but himself that his time was up; his delay in admitting his own limitations only highlights his disconnect from reality and the American people.

America is in crisis. We see wealth disparity reminiscent of France pre-1789, the era of robber barons. Our democracy is in peril, with our representatives and senators corrupted by the influence of the ultra-rich, and our Constitution disregarded in times of war.

Biden and Trump are two sides of the same coin – consumed by their own egos and self-interest. Biden's delay in stepping down and Trump's delusions of grandeur both stem from a dangerous sense of 'overconfidence,' as described by Dominic Johnson in his book, Overconfidence and War: The Havoc and Glory of Positive Illusions.

Even our judicial system isn't immune, with the Supreme Court making decisions that enable bad presidents to do their worst.

America must wake up and hold these so-called 'leaders' accountable. It's time for a change – a diverse, inclusive, and equitable future lies ahead if we can break free from the chains of overconfident, greedy, old white men like Biden and Trump.
