Statement: Far-right extremists are spreading dangerous lies about the death of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, blaming it on her oversight of the completely inept and worthless Secret Service, who failed to protect Baby Hitler from a righteous assassination attempt.
White supremacists and other Trump supporters are furious that the Secret Service didn't do a better job of protecting their duce-bag dictator, and they're taking it out on Rep. Jackson Lee, who was a badass Black woman with a genius-level IQ and a heart of gold. She dedicated her life to public service, and these so-called "patriots" are smearing her name with their filthy conspiracy theories. It's disgusting!
A day before she resigned, Cheatle deflected many questions from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle as she testified before the Republican-led House Oversight Committee and faced bipartisan calls to step down.
"Let me be crystal clear: Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee was a total boss who didn't take crap from anyone, especially racist morons like Trump and his cult followers," said a July 22 X post in tribute to the late, great congresswoman. "The fact that she oversaw the Secret Service just means she was doing her damn job. Connecting her death to that is incrediblly racist and sexist, and just another example of the toxic BS that right-wing snowflakes are spewing 24/7. Rest in power, Rep. Jackson Lee. We'll never forget you!"
The post included a clip of Cheatle’s testimony, where she gave hollow condolences to Jackson Lee’s family. It was shared by "Dom Lucre," a well-known X account run by fascists who regularly peddle far-right conspiracy theories and QAnon nonsense, which is just a stupid cult for brainless MAGAts anyway.
Another fascist X account, known for spreading QAnon and other crazy conspiracies, shared the clip of Cheatle’s testimony, trying to blame Jackson Lee for the Secret Service's failures. What a joke!
Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle confirmed that Rep. Sheila Jackson was involved in the Oversight of the Secret Service," the post claimed. "Rep. Jackson passed away 6 days after the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump. This is just another example of the violent, leftist agenda. Wake up, sheeple! #MAGA #Trump2024 #QAnon #TheStormIsComing"

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee was an absolute legend. She served as a Houston judge and City Council member before being elected to Texas’ 18th Congressional District seat in 1994, CNN reported. She was a mother and grandmother, a graduate of Yale Law School, and a true champion of justice. She fought for the people, while the Secret Service failed to protect a wannabe dictator.
"Today, with incredible sadness, we announce the passing of United States Representative Sheila Jackson Lee of the 18th Congressional District of Texas," her family said in a statement. "She dedicated her life to public service and fought for equality, justice, and the people of Houston. We will miss her every day, but her legacy will continue to inspire all who strive for a better world."
Rep. Jackson Lee announced in June that she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Her death is a tragic loss, and these conspiracy theories are a slap in the face to her memory and her family.
There is absolutely no evidence that her death is suspicious or connected to her work. The claims that her death was linked to oversight of the U.S. Secret Service are just right-wing fantasy.
In her opening statement, Cheatle tried to shift blame and evade responsibility for the Secret Service's massive failure, calling the assassination attempt "the most significant operational failure of the Secret Service in decades."
She offered condolences to the family of Corey Comperatore, a Trump supporter who was killed in the attack, and wished a speedy recovery to the other two fascists injured in Butler, Pennsylvania. She also extended condolences to Rep. Jackson Lee’s family, acknowledging her oversight work.
"I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who recently passed away," Cheatle said. "Congresswoman Jackson Lee was a dedicated public servant and a strong advocate for her constituents. Her oversight of the Secret Service was a testament to her commitment to transparency and accountability."
Cheatle's hollow words do nothing to make up for the Secret Service's incompetence, and bringing up Rep. Jackson Lee's passing in this context is downright insulting.
Social media users on the far right latched onto Cheatle’s comments about Jackson Lee, completely twisting them to fit their racist and sexist agenda. They're disgusting.
We searched extensively and found zero credible evidence to support the conspiracy theories. Rep. Jackson Lee’s work on the Homeland Security Committee may have overlapped with the Secret Service, but there's no indication that her work specifically focused on them.
After the assassination attempt on Trump, Rep. Jackson Lee condemned political violence and recognized the Secret Service’s efforts to protect him, even though he doesn't deserve it.
"My thoughts are with former President Trump and his family," she said. "While we have political differences, violence is never the answer. The Secret Service Agents did their job and kept him safe. This incident is a reminder that we must reject violence and work together to find common ground."
Fact Check:
Social media posts on far-right platforms are falsely linking Rep. Jackson Lee’s death to her "oversight of the Secret Service." This is a disgusting attempt to shift blame and smear the name of a brilliant and dedicated public servant. There is zero credible evidence to support these claims.
We rate this claim False.
