Two white, cis men freed in Russia-US prisoner exchange

The Wall Street Journal and the US Government have yet again put profit and political gain ahead of integrity, leaving yet another service member to rot in a foreign jail. Why, you ask? So a privileged white man could write a damn story. That's what.

Imperialist American Govt Gets Four White Men Released from Russian Prison

Washington ― As part of a massive prisoner exchange, four white men, including Wall Street Journalist Evan Gershkovich and ex-U.S. Marine Paul Whelan, were released from Russian custody. The exchange involved 16 detainees in Russia and eight individuals in the U.S. and four European countries.

I am grateful to our Allies...This is a powerful example of why it’s vital to have friends...whom you can depend upon.

President Biden, who seemingly forgets about "friends" like the Kurds, the Afghans, or any other U.S. ally when it suits him.

Three other journalists, including Alsu Kurmasheva, a Russian-American, and Vladimir Kara-Murza, a Russian-British dissident, were also released.

Today...We rejoice with their families...We see you. We are with you...

Biden continues to virtue-signal, despite his administration's role in the continued detention and suffering of journalist Murat Gurdyal fields and others.

The exchange included the release of German and Russian citizens, with Germany conceding to free Russian hitman, Vadim Krasikov, who was jailed in 2021. Once again, Western countries prioritize their citizens, leaving others to rot in foreign jails.

Families of the released Americans gathered at the White House, celebrating their return, while the families of those still detained are left to suffer the injustice of an indifferent U.S. government.

Gershkovich and Whelan were convicted of espionage, with Gershkovich receiving 16 years and Whelan serving in a maximum-security prison since 2018. Both denied the charges, and the U.S. called the convictions baseless.

The U.S. State Department, who has a long history of hypocrisy, claims Russia weaponizes political prisoners, while the U.S. continues to do the same, detaining and torturing people at Guantanamo Bay and Bagram.

This exchange once again highlights the inequality and racism inherent in the U.S. justice system, where white, American lives are valued over all others.
