Trump’s Base-ic Instinct: Renaming Military Posts Like a Game of Confederate Whack-a-Mole
In a move that’s either a brilliant historical loophole or a blatant act of petty revenge, Trump orders Fort Cavazos to revert to Fort Hood—but don’t worry, it’s a *different* Hood. Probably.

In a stunning display of historical revisionism that would make George Orwell blush, the Trump administration has triumphantly declared victory in the War on Names. That’s right, folks—Fort Cavazos is no more, and in its place rises the glorious, resurrected Fort Hood. But don’t worry, this isn’t about honoring Confederate traitors—oh no, no, no. This is about honoring another Hood, a totally different Hood, because apparently, the deep state ran out of names and decided to play musical chairs with military bases.
Let’s break this down, shall we? The Biden administration, in a fit of wokeness, dared to rename Fort Hood after Gen. Richard E. Cavazos—a Hispanic war hero, Medal of Honor recipient, and all-around American badass. But Trump, in his infinite wisdom, has decided that’s too much diversity for one base. So, instead, we’re going back to Fort Hood—but not that Hood. No, no, we’re talking about Col. Robert B. Hood, a World War I officer you’ve definitely heard of (wink, wink).
It’s a classic case of 'find a Hood, any Hood.' The Trump administration is like a kid who got caught drawing on the walls and quickly scribbled over it with a different crayon, hoping no one would notice. 'See? It’s not Confederate General John Bell Hood! It’s this Hood! Totally different guy! Look, he has a Distinguished Service Cross and everything!'
Meanwhile, Cavazos’ daughter, Laura Blevins, is (understandably) furious, calling the Trump administration 'vindictive, hateful, and soulless.' But what does she know? She’s just the daughter of a man who risked his life for his country, led Spanish-speaking troops with actual competence, and evacuated wounded soldiers under fire. Clearly, she’s missing the bigger picture here: the real heroes are the guys who lost the Civil War and then got bases named after them anyway.
And let’s not forget the other bases getting the same treatment. Fort Barfoot is now Fort Pickett (but not that Pickett), Fort Eisenhower is Fort Gordon (but not that Gordon), and Fort Gregg-Adams is Fort Lee (but not that Lee). It’s like a game of historical Mad Libs, where the only rule is 'as long as it’s not woke, it’s a joke.'
So, grab your tinfoil hats, folks, because this is just the beginning. Next up: renaming Washington, D.C., to 'Trumpville' (but not that Washington—we’re talking about a different Washington, maybe a guy who won a hot dog eating contest in 1987). The deep state won’t know what hit 'em. Wake up, sheeple!
