SNAP Freeze: The Government’s Latest Hunger Games
In which the government plays a cruel game of "how little can we give you before it’s legally considered starvation?"

Ah, the government shutdown—our nation’s favorite recurring nightmare, like a bad sequel to Groundhog Day but with more hunger and fewer Bill Murray quips. This time, the star of the show is SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which has been frozen faster than a forgotten Hot Pocket in the back of a broke college student’s freezer. And who’s suffering? Oh, just the hundreds of thousands of people who rely on it to, you know, not starve. But hey, at least the courts are here to save the day—sort of—by ordering the government to restore partial benefits. Because nothing says "justice" like telling a hungry family, "Here’s 65% of your dignity, enjoy!"
