In a move that has shocked absolutely no one, Aeon Industrial Inc., an Austin-based defense startup, has announced plans to double its workforce and move its headquarters to Cedar Park. The company, which specializes in creating autonomous weapons and missile tracking systems, is set to build a 48,000-square-foot facility right next door to Firefly Aerospace Inc.'s new headquarters.

Aeon Industrial's CEO and Founder, Naweed Tahmas, stated the obvious: "We're making this move because demand has outpaced our current production capacity." No kidding, Sherlock.

But wait, there's more! Cedar Park City Council is set to vote on an economic development agreement that will support Aeon Industrial's new digs. The agreement would require the company to create 75 jobs by the end of 2027 and another 60 by the end of 2028. In return, Cedar Park would provide up to $1.5 million in incentives and $10,000 relocation bonuses for employees who buy homes in the city.

Oh, and let's not forget the company's mission statement: "Our mission is to rapidly deliver critical defense hardware affordably and at massive scale." Translation: We want to make a lot of money by selling weapons to the highest bidder.

So there you have it, folks. Another day, another defense startup moving to the suburbs. But hey, at least Cedar Park is becoming an "impressive tech, defense and manufacturing hub," right? Right.
