The San Gabriel River decided to throw a wet and wild party this week, overflowing its banks and crashing into the nearby Good Water RV Park and Shady River RV Resort like an overzealous frat boy spilling his beer on everyone. Residents were seen fleeing in droves, their dreams of a peaceful retirement floating away on the murky floodwaters.
But let's be real, who needs a stable place to live when you can have an impromptu swim? As belongings bobbed along the newly-formed river rapids, displaced RV enthusiasts could be heard muttering about the "good old days" when flash floods were just a myth. Ah, nostalgia.
Local hero Jay Janner, staff photographer for the Austin American-Statesman, bravely documented the watery chaos, risking life and lens to capture the essence of Mother Nature's wrath. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to photograph it, does it make a splash?
As the river levels continue to rise, we can only hope that the fine folks of Georgetown have stocked up on inflatable rafts and snorkels. Who needs a kayak when you can paddle down Main Street in a recliner? The San Gabriel River may be a force to be reckoned with, but it's no match for the indomitable spirit (and questionable life choices) of Central Texas residents.
