In a shocking turn of events, Texas has ranked near the top in a new analysis of where major social media creators were born. With a whopping 43 Texas-born creators appearing among the most-followed U.S. creators across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitch, Texas snagged the No. 4 spot by raw count.

But wait, there's more! When adjusted for population, Texas had about 1.36 top creators per 1 million residents, placing it closer to the middle of the pack. So while we may have quantity, we're still working on that whole quality thing.

California, of course, remained the clear outlier, ranking No. 1 by raw count and No. 5 per capita. They're just showing off at this point.

Texas performed best on Twitch, with 19 Texas-born creators appearing in the study. Sodapoppin, born Thomas Chance Morris in Austin, has nearly 9 million Twitch followers, while SypherPK, born Ali Hassan in Austin, has about 6.5 million followers.

In a surprising twist, Instagram accounted for the largest share of Texas creators' followers, with about 929 million. I guess we really do love our perfectly curated photos and carefully crafted captions.

So there you have it, folks. Texas may be known for its barbecue and live music, but we're also churning out social media influencers like it's our job. And who knows? Maybe one day we'll even crack the top 10 per capita. A girl can dream.
