In a shocking turn of events, local Austin punk and DIY enthusiast Troy Rabago, 49, was arrested last Tuesday after allegedly stealing a car and leading police on a high-speed chase through the streets of Kyle, Texas. Witnesses say Rabago, a well-known figure in the Austin punk scene, was last seen sporting a Mohawk and a leather jacket adorned with patches of his favorite anarchist symbols.

According to police reports, Rabago stole a car and attempted to flee the scene, driving at speeds up to 60 mph through a parking lot before dramatically turning around and crashing head-on into a marked patrol vehicle. As a punk rock aficionado, Rabago is no stranger to making bold statements, but this may be his most daring move yet.

"I've seen him at shows before, thrashing around in the mosh pit and screaming about sticking it to the man," said one anonymous scene member. "I guess this is just his way of taking that message to the next level."

Rabago now faces a laundry list of charges, including aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and reckless driving.

Inside the stolen vehicle, investigators reportedly found more than 80 documents tied to someone else's identity, along with a credit card linked to fraudulent purchases reported just one day prior. Some speculate that Rabago was using the stolen funds to bankroll an upcoming anarchist book fair or to finally pay for that new bass amp he's had his eye on.

As Rabago sits behind bars, his punk rock comrades are left wondering: has he become the ultimate symbol of anti-establishment rebellion, or just another cautionary tale of taking the 'punk' ethos a bit too far? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain—Troy Rabago won't be thrashing around in the mosh pit anytime soon.
