In a shocking turn of events, the Trump administration has decided to actually do something about the opaque and convoluted world of hospital pricing. I know, I couldn't believe it either. Apparently, they sent out letters to over 500 hospitals, including 42 in the great state of Texas, warning them to get their act together and provide some basic pricing information to the public.

Now, I don't know about you, but I've always found it super convenient to go in for a routine procedure and then be blindsided by a bill that rivals the GDP of a small country. It's like playing a game of healthcare roulette – will it be $500 or $50,000? Who knows!

But fear not, fellow citizens, because the Trump administration is here to save the day... sort of. They're threatening these rogue hospitals with penalties of up to $2 million annually if they don't start posting clear pricing data. You hear that, Baptist Medical Center and MD Anderson? Shape up or pay up!

Of course, this is all assuming that the pricing data is actually useful for us regular folks and not just the healthcare industry insiders with their fancy calculators and spreadsheets. But hey, at least it's a step in the right direction, right?

So, here's to hoping that one day we'll live in a world where we can shop around for medical procedures like we do for avocados at Whole Foods. Until then, I guess we'll just have to keep playing the healthcare lottery and praying for a miracle.
