Southwest Airlines is prioritizing profits over people, abandoning service to Cozumel, sacrificing travelers for its financial gain.

Southwest Airlines Drops Direct Flights From Austin To Cozumel, Mexico

As of August 4th, 2024, Southwest Airlines is discontinuing its nonstop service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Cozumel International Airport.

"To improve our financial performance, we have intensified our network optimization efforts to address underperforming markets," Southwest President and CEO Bob Jordan.

The decision, announced on Thursday, comes as the airline reported a net loss of $231 million in Q1 2024. Southwest also plans to cancel services to Bellingham, WA, Houston, and Syracuse.
