Scattered storms hit the Austin area Sunday morning, causing power outages for more than 13,000 customers, mainly in South, East, and Central Austin. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of potential wind gusts over 40 mph, heavy rain, and hail until 10 a.m.

The outages were caused by the severe weather. Crews are restoring outages that affect the largest number of customers first and will continue to work their way down the list. - Matt Mitchell, Austin Energy spokesperson

Some areas may experience more severe storms throughout the day, with a small portion of Williamson, Lee, and Fayette counties at risk. Rainfall amounts were modest, with under an inch recorded at Camp Mabry and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, according to NWS meteorologist Eric Platt. He predicts rain chances will decrease as the day goes on, moving east of Austin.
