Austin Severe Storms Cause Power Outages, Impact Thousands
Severe storms on Sunday morning caused power outages for thousands of Austin, Texas residents, according to Austin Energy. By 3 p.m., the outage map showed approximately 2,500 customers still affected, down from 18,000 earlier in the day. Matt Mitchell, a spokesperson for Austin Energy, attributed the outages to the severe weather, noting that crews are prioritizing restoration based on impact.

- As of 3 p.m., Oncor Energy reported scattered outages with less than 100 customers impacted in Williamson County and near Pflugerville.
- The Pedernales Electrical Cooperative reported less than 100 customers affected west of Austin and in western Williamson, Travis, and Hays counties.
- Bastrop County's Bluebonnet Electrical Cooperative restored power to all customers after earlier outages.
- Rainfall from Sunday's storms totaled under 1 inch in Austin, with April's rainfall exceeding 3 inches.
- The National Weather Service reports decreasing rain chances, with storms more likely east of Austin.
- Areas east of Interstate 35, including Bastrop and Caldwell counties, are under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Sunday, with potential tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail.
