Man Dies After Being Mauled by Pit Bull in Bronx Apartment
A 41-year-old man is dead after being attacked by his pit bull in his Bronx apartment early Friday morning, according to the NYPD.

"Officers responded to a 911 call... of a dog biting its owner. Upon arrival, officers observed a male victim severely injured... EMS responded and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased." — NYPD statement to USA TODAY
The victim has not been identified, and the investigation is ongoing. Officers on the scene were also hospitalized for evaluation after fatally shooting the dog.
