San Antonio Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Police Searching for Motive

San Antonio, Texas - Early Sunday, a shooting in San Antonio's Market Square left two men dead and four bystanders injured. The shooting occurred on the final day of the city's Fiesta celebrations, just after midnight. SAPD officers on patrol heard gunshots and witnessed two men, an 18 and 20-year-old, shooting at each other. The 18-year-old suspect attempted to flee, but turned to continue firing, at which point officers returned fire. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man died in hospital.

Chief McManus stated that four bystanders were injured, with non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of the shooters and the motive remain unknown.

The shooting caused the early closure of Fiesta De Los Reyes, sparking debate over event security. This incident follows a similar shooting during last year's Fiesta, where a 25-year-old man was seriously injured.
