Texas Trio Lauded for Campus Beauty

Architectural Digest ranked the prettiest college campuses in the US; Texas made the list.

Texas Colleges Named Among America's Prettiest Campuses

Texas colleges were recently recognized for their beautiful architecture and historical charm by Architectural Digest in their ranking of the "64 Prettiest College Campuses in America."

The Lone Star State's shining stars:

  • Baylor University (#14) - named after a former Texas governor.
  • Rice University (#16) - founded in 1891, it became Rice Institute in 1912, and gained university status in 1960. It established the nation's first space science department.
  • Southern Methodist University (#25) - designed by the Chicago firm Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge, featuring Georgian architecture inspired by Thomas Jefferson's design at UVA.
