A Sacramento, California, woman was arrested and detained on child abuse charges after witnesses observed her kicking and shaking her 2-year-old child on a Delta Air Lines flight from Mexico to Seattle on May 1.

Passengers said the child woke up their sleeping mother, who then kicked the child in the window seat. Another witness described seeing the woman "shaking the child like a ragdoll." When confronted, she told passengers to mind their own business. - Criminal Complaint, May 2

The woman was detained by Customs and Border Protection, and the child was observed to have bruises on their eye, cheek, shoulder, and forearm.
