Minnesota mother indicted on murder charges in connection with deaths of two children

MinnesotaA Minnesota mother, Jennifer Marie Stately, 35, has been indicted on charges of premeditated murder, murder while committing child abuse, arson, and felony child neglect in connection with the deaths of her two children, 5-year-old Tristan Collin Stately, and 6-year-old Remi Leland Stately. The incident occurred on March 15 at the Red Lake Indian Reservation in Beltrami County, per federal prosecutors.

Mother allegedly stabbed children and set fire, per indictment

The charging indictment outlines a brutal attack, stating that Stately attacked the children with a knife or sharp object, inflicting fatal wounds. One child was stabbed in the chest, while the other died from smoke inhalation due to an arson fire that Stately allegedly set. Court documents also detail neglect of her 3-year-old child, who was found with rotten teeth and open sores.

Jennifer Stately pleaded not guilty to all charges

Stately initially faced charges of child neglect and endangerment but was indicted on more serious charges after the case was moved to the jurisdiction where the killings took place. She has pleaded not guilty and remains jailed pending further proceedings.
