Woman Convicted of Stealing Over $60K Worth of Goods from Target with Self-Checkout Scam

A Northern California woman, Aziza Graves, 43, is facing over 3 years in prison for stealing from the same Target store 120 times in a year.

"Individuals such as Aziza Graves commit egregious thefts through brazen and repeated conduct that greatly impacts retailers' ability to operate and serve the public...These crimes demand accountability." - District Attorney Brooke Jenkins

The Scam:

  • Between Oct 3, 2020, and Nov 16, 2021, Graves would:
  1. Enter the Target in San Francisco.
  2. Bring items to self-checkout.
  3. Scan items and insert a single coin or bill.
  4. Leave with the goods.

She was convicted of 52 counts of petty theft and one felony count of grand theft. KRON-TV reported she stole over $60,000 worth of merchandise.

Sentencing is set for May 24, with Graves currently out on bond.
