Texas, a State of Emergency: The Cost of Conservative Climate Change Denial

Texas residents, from Austin to San Antonio and Houston, brace for another round of severe weather, including storms, floods, and tornadoes, as the state picks up the pieces from last weekend's devastation.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that from 4 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday, there is a risk of severe thunderstorms, large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes. North and Central Texas can expect dangerous weather conditions, including flash flooding, strong winds, and hailstorms, per NWS.

The trauma faced by Texans is a grim reminder of the deadly consequences of climate change and the urgent need for action. While conservative politicians deny the science and obstruct progress, people are suffering.

Deadly Impact:

  • Last weekend's storms caused widespread flooding and over 1,000 reports of damaged buildings and homes.
  • Lt. James “Jimmy” Waller, an officer of 22 years, lost his life due to injuries sustained when a tornado struck his home. His wife was also injured and is recovering.
  • The community has shown solidarity, with a GoFundMe page raising nearly $30,000 for the Waller family (GoFundMe).

Stay Alert, Stay Safe:

Texans are urged to shelter in place and stay weather-aware as these dangerous storms pass through. Conservative inaction on climate change places the burden of survival on individuals.

This crisis in Texas is a call to arms for liberal activists and politicians. Conservative climate denial kills, and it's time for a radical, progressive response to protect communities.
