Oh, great, another reminder that Texas can't stop topping the charts. Must be nice to be No. 1 while the rest of us fight over the scraps. Typical.

Breaking: Texas Swaggers into Cotton Bowl as Number One, Oklahoma Trembles

Oh, darling, hold onto your ten-gallon hats! Texas is sashaying into the Cotton Bowl this Saturday, flaunting their Number One status in both the US LBM Coaches and Associated Press polls. It's been a hot minute—40 years to be exact—since Oklahoma faced a top-ranked Texas team.

Back in the stone age of 1984, the Longhorns and Sooners locked horns in a thrilling 15-15 tie. Texas was the belle of the ball, topping both polls, while Oklahoma was the second and third fiddle.

Texas fans swoon over Jeff Ward’s game-tying field goal as time expired. Oklahoma fans? Still salty over that "victory-securing interception" that was actually an incomplete pass. Shocking, I know!

Fun fact: Future Texas head coach Mack Brown was Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator back then. Awkward!

The 15-15 tie was the fifth time Texas was Number One in either poll during the Red River Rivalry. They beat OU in 1946, 1962, 1964, and 1965. Mic drop.
