Texas Towns Dominate List of Fastest-Growing US Cities
Per new data from the US Census Bureau, 9 of the top 10 fastest-growing US cities are in Texas. The data reflects population changes in towns and cities with a population of 20,000 or more between July 2020 and July 2023.
The main factor behind Texas' growth is people moving into its counties from other states.
The fastest-growing city is Celina, TX, with a 143% increase between 2020-2023, now with a population of 43,317.

Southern Growth
The South, consisting of 16 states + Washington, D.C., saw faster growth in 2023 than 2022.
Southern states grew by 1.4 million people from 2022-2023, making it the fastest-growing region in the US. This accounted for 87% of the nation's growth in 2023, driven by migration.
Since 2018, the South has had increasing year-to-year net domestic migration and is now the most populous region, with 130.1 million people.
