Warrant reveals new details about Texas shooting rampage

A warrant filed in Bexar County, Texas offers insight into the actions of Shane James Jr., who is accused of killing 6 people in a Dec. 5 rampage. James, a former U.S. Army officer, now faces multiple charges, including capital murder.

He went to ask his father a question, and his father "made a joke." That is when James went to his room, grabbed his gun and killed both of his parents.

Siblings' Warning
James' siblings told deputies he suffered from schizophrenia, which worsened after his 2015 Army discharge. They were surprised to see law enforcement at the house, as they'd been unable to reach their parents.

"Impending Doom"
About two weeks after the killings, James told deputies he felt "impending doom" leading up to the shootings. He admitted to watching YouTube videos and putting up notes "in anger" before the incident.

Notes and Videos
James' room had notes thumbtacked to the walls, along with journals and a laptop, but their contents are unknown. A public information officer with the sheriff's office did not disclose details, citing the need to "safeguard information."

James is expected to appear in court in August. His lawyer, Russ Hunt Jr., said there have been no discussions of a plea deal or the death penalty.
