The summer travel season is upon us, and while most hope for smooth sailing, flight delays and cancellations are a common occurrence. For those traveling through Texas, here's what you need to know about the busiest airports and their on-time performance.

Texas' Top 5 Busiest Airports:

  • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
  • Dallas Love Field (DAL)
  • Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
  • Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)
  • Houston William P. Hobby Airport (HOU)

Dallas DFW:

  • Delayed: 23.74%
  • Canceled: 1,187
  • On-Time: 74.34%
  • Canceled %: 1.65%

Dallas Love Field:

  • Delayed: 19.03%
  • Canceled: 302
  • On-Time: 79.09%
  • Canceled: 1.69%

Houston IAH:

  • Delayed: 17.98%
  • Canceled: 676
  • On-Time: 79.18%
  • Canceled %: 2.51%

Austin-Bergstrom:

  • Delayed: 22.05%
  • Canceled: 275
  • On-Time: 76.33%
  • Canceled %: 1.39%

Houston Hobby:

  • Delayed: 18.81%
  • Canceled: 152

What to Do if Your Flight is Delayed/Canceled:

  • Rebook via the airline's app or an agent.
  • Book a hotel if needed.
  • Know your rights: you are entitled to a cash refund if your flight is canceled and you alter plans. Soon, airlines will have to refund within 7 business days. Transportation.gov
