Female Bicyclist Critically Injured in Taylor Crash

A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover surgery and healing expenses for 33-year-old Carla Hoffman, who is in critical but stable condition after a terrifying incident.

Friday's Collision

At 7:54 a.m. on Friday, Hoffman was struck by a car in the 300 block of North Main Street, Taylor. The 55-year old driver of a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze turned north onto North Main Street from West Third Street, failing to yield to Hoffman, who was riding west on Third Street.

Dragged Underneath

Hoffman, of Coupland, was dragged 100 feet underneath the car before witnesses intervened and stopped the driver in the 400 block of North Main Street. Taylor PD stated:

"The possibility of criminal charges will be evaluated when the investigation is complete."

Chief Fluck maintained it was "too early" to discuss potential charges.

Community Response

Bystanders, along with a Taylor police officer who arrived within a minute of the incident, lifted the car and pulled Hoffman out. She was rushed to Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock with multiple injuries, where she remains in critical but stable condition.

The collision prompted a five-hour road closure of two blocks on North Main Street as authorities investigated.

The community's support for Hoffman's recovery is evident through the GoFundMe set up to assist with her medical expenses.
