Cops say a 9-year-old boy was killed in his Milwaukee home. The child was in his bedroom when gunshots flew.

Milwaukee boy, 9, shot and killed in his home; mayor says 'it should not have happened'
- A 9-year-old boy, Jonael Zambrano, was shot and killed in his Milwaukee, WI home early Thursday.
- Zambrano was in his room with his sister and cousin when the shooting occurred, WISN reported. His mother believes the wrong home was targeted.
- Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson said he was notified about the shooting, adding, "It should not have happened...It's a challenge that we continue to...address here in this community."
- The shooting follows a spate of recent gun violence in the area, including the shooting deaths of two 15-year-olds and a 10-year-old girl.
- Milwaukee police are searching for suspects, and officials are speaking out against the city's rising gun violence.
