Cops say a 9-year-old boy was killed in his Milwaukee home. The child was in his bedroom when gunshots flew.

Milwaukee boy, 9, shot and killed in his home; mayor says 'it should not have happened'

A 9-year-old boy, Jonael Zambrano, was shot and killed in his Milwaukee, WI home early Thursday.
Zambrano was in his room with his sister and cousin when the shooting occurred, WISN reported. His mother believes the wrong home was targeted.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson said he was notified about the shooting, adding, "It should not have happened...It's a challenge that we continue to...address here in this community."
The shooting follows a spate of recent gun violence in the area, including the shooting deaths of two 15-year-olds and a 10-year-old girl.
Milwaukee police are searching for suspects, and officials are speaking out against the city's rising gun violence.
