A Florida couple's dreams came true when they won a $1 million lottery prize just before welcoming their first child. John Stanhill, 46, of Jacksonville, claimed the prize with his partner, Victoria Oakley, and their dog, Maya, on June 11. The $50 "500X THE CASH" ticket was purchased from Duval Exxon, earning them a one-time payment of $640,000.

"This just couldn’t have happened at a better time!" – John Stanhill to lottery officials.

The couple welcomed their baby boy just three weeks after the win, feeling like they'd "won the lottery twice." They plan to use the money to start a college fund and pay off loans, relieving financial stress as new parents.

Scratch-off tickets offer odds of winning of 1 in 4.23, according to the Florida Lottery. Tickets are sold in-person at various retailers and online through Jackpocket in select U.S. states.
