Texas Man Pleads Guilty to Murdering Estranged Wife

A Georgetown, Texas man, Ricardo Quinones, 39, has pleaded guilty to the murder of his estranged wife, 31-year-old Lindsey Whitman. Quinones will serve a life sentence, per the Williamson County DA's office.

“We are pleased that Mr. Quinones has been brought to justice...This case is a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating impact domestic violence can have on families." -- District Attorney Shawn Dick

On the morning of December 27, 2022, Quinones, masked and armed, broke into Whitman's home, where she and their young daughter lived separately from him. He handcuffed Whitman and threatened her with a gun and a knife. Their daughter called 911 and escaped through a window. Despite police negotiation attempts, Quinones shot Whitman twice in the head through a pillow, per the arrest affidavit.

Whitman's brother, Brad Whitman, expressed gratitude for the support from law enforcement, noting their presence at the sentencing hearing. The crime occurred less than two weeks after Whitman filed for divorce. Quinones was indicted for capital murder but pleaded to a lower charge, a move accepted in consultation with Whitman's family to provide "finality." He was arrested by the Austin County Sheriff's task force several hours later in Columbus.
