A [Houston federal judge](https://www.courthousenews.com/ uva-prof-sues-over-alleged-false-claims-in-rolling-stone-retracted-story/) on Friday dismissed a bankruptcy case against Free Speech Systems, parent company of Alex Jones' Infowars, keeping the show alive. This decision comes just hours after the same judge, Judge Christopher Lopez, ordered Jones to sell his personal assets to pay the $1.5 billion in defamation damages owed to the Sandy Hook families.

"We've got to reach a resolution," said Judge Lopez, basing his decision on the company's testimony that Free Speech Systems was most profitable with Jones on air.

Lopez denied that any court ruling would have shut down Infowars, despite Jones' claims that "the feds" and "the Democratic party" were out to get him.

For weeks, Jones cried foul, claiming that government entities and "the CIA" were plotting to take away his show. Just hours before the ruling, he urged viewers to tune into what could be the "LAST broadcast of Infowars."

While the show will go on, Jones is not off the hook. The Sandy Hook families, represented by attorney Chris Mattei, celebrated the court's decision to liquidate Jones' personal assets:

"Alex Jones is neither a martyr nor a victim. He is the perpetrator of the worst defamation in American history," Mattei said.

The dismissal of the bankruptcy case against Free Speech Systems seems to boil down to the paradox that the platform that harmed the Sandy Hook families may also provide their best chance at recovering damages. The families will continue to pursue Jones' future income to satisfy his debts.
