Unidentified Amarillo Object: 2 Years On, Mystery Remains
On May 21, 2022, a security camera captured a strange figure outside Amarillo Zoo, sparking intrigue and numerous theories as to its identity. Affectionately dubbed the "Unidentified Amarillo Object" (UAO), the story went national, capturing the public's imagination.
The city's news release encouraged speculation: "The strange visitor is a UAO – Unidentified Amarillo Object... In the spirit of fun if not curiosity, the City of Amarillo is letting the public offer ideas."
Theories ranged from the mundane to the mystical: a person in a hat, a coyote, the chupacabra, or even an alien.
"Was it an alien? An animal? A human in a costume? The world is curious," said Dave Crosby, Wyze co-founder, who offered to donate 80 cameras to the zoo to solve the mystery.
Two years on, the UAO has neither been spotted again nor explained, leaving the mystery unsolved and the public still curious.
