Amusement park ride malfunction traps 28 mid-air.

The Twist n' Shout ride at Oaks Amusement Park in Portland, Oregon malfunctioned, trapping 28 riders upside down. All riders were safely rescued.

Riders trapped upside down on Oaks Park's AtmosFEAR

On Friday, June 14, at 2:55 p.m., 28 riders were left suspended upside down on the AtmosFEAR ride at Oaks Amusement Park, Portland, Oregon. [https://www.oakspark.com/] First responders were on the scene by 3:20 p.m., and riders were safely returned to the unloading position. One rider with a pre-existing condition was hospitalized.

Statement from Oaks Park:

"We wish to express our deepest appreciation to the first responders and our staff for their prompt action, leading to a positive outcome... [We're] thankful that the riders are safe and with their families."

TikTok user @chrisryan documented the incident:

"This isn't supposed to be upside down... It's scary."

Ryan's follow-up:

"Update, they're still up there... We just asked if this has ever happened before and she said 'no'... Oh, they just said the park is closed."

The park has closed the ride for investigation and repairs:

"Oaks Park Management will work with the manufacturer and state inspectors to identify the cause."
