Two Killed, Six Wounded in Juneteenth Celebration Shooting

Round Rock, Texas - A Juneteenth celebration in Old Settlers Park ended in tragedy Saturday night, with two killed and six wounded, including children.

"It is unfortunate that we were here celebrating a wonderful event and we have a tragedy that happens," said Police Chief Allen Banks. "My thoughts and my prayers go out to the victims. My condolences go out to the families of the deceased."

Per the Round Rock Police Department, the incident began at 10:50 p.m. between two groups and those directly involved fled, leaving two dead and multiple injured. The deceased were not part of the altercation. Police are seeking information and video from the public to aid in their search for the shooters.

Austin-Travis County EMS responded, treating and transporting four adults and two children with serious injuries to local hospitals.

The two-day event was sponsored by The Voice Inc. and the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department. This is the 18th year of the free celebration.
