Postal and parcel services will remain open on Juneteenth. Banks will also open their doors, but many corporate offices are closed to observe the holiday. A day to celebrate freedom and honour a painful history.

Banks and Post Offices Closed for Juneteenth: What's Open and Closed on June 19

If you need to visit a bank or post office this week, consider going before or after Wednesday, June 19 — Juneteenth, a day to commemorate the end of slavery in the US.

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Texas to ensure all enslaved people were freed. It's been a federally-recognized holiday since 2021, giving millions a paid day off.

Here's what's closed:

  • The USPS: No retail or mail deliveries, except Priority Mail Express.
  • Banks: Capital One branches, Bank of America, PNC, Truist, CitiBank, and JPMorgan Chase will all be closed.

What's open:

  • UPS: Pickups and deliveries as usual, with stores open.
  • FedEx: Regular services and FedEx Office locations open.
  • Capital One Cafes remain open.
