Banks and the USPS will remain closed for the holiday, yet most restaurants and retail will stay open.

Juneteenth 2024: What's open and what's closed?

Juneteenth, commemorated on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when federal troops enforced the emancipation of all enslaved people in Texas, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It became a federal holiday in 2021. Here's what's open and closed this year:

Post Office:

  • USPS locations: CLOSED
  • Mail delivery: No regular mail, except Priority Mail Express
  • Retail locations: OPEN with normal hours on Thursday, June 20
  • Online services: AVAILABLE 24/7 (USPS.com)

Banks:

  • Capital One, Bank of America, PNC, Truist, CitiBank, and JPMorgan Chase: CLOSED

Grocery & Retail:

  • H-E-B: OPEN (6 am-11 pm)
  • Costco: OPEN (10 am-8:30 pm)
  • Walmart: OPEN (6 am-11 pm)
  • Kroger: OPEN (6 am-11 pm)
  • Target: OPEN (8 am-10 pm)

Shipping:

  • UPS: OPEN (pickup & delivery), check local stores for hours
  • FedEx: OPEN (pickup & delivery), FedEx Office locations open
